Access to Eastern Sierra rapidly approaching.
Access to sightseeing, fishing, hiking and biking in the Eastern Sierra is opening fast. Tioga Pass to Yosemite National Park, the Mammoth Lakes Basin, and Sonora and Monitor passes are now open. It's time to start exploring!

Road Openings:
* Tioga Pass Road (SR 120) opened for the season on May 2nd. This is the earliest opening of the road since 1988 when it opened on April 29th.
* The Mammoth Lakes Basin opened on May 3rd, allowing fisherpeople their first chance of the season to catch trout in that area. Some of the lakes are still slightly frozen over so be cautious of thin ice. Look for open water spots to fish from ... there are plenty!
* Sonora Pass (SR 108) and Monitor Pass (SR 89) are both open.
* The road to Reds Meadow and Devils Postpile (SR 203) is scheduled to open by Memorial Day Weekend.

*Please note: Always check the road conditions. It can snow anytime in the mountains, temporarily closing roads and making travel difficult. Always carry chains.
