A Snowfall To Remember

Taken just hours ago from the top of Mammoth Mountain, this photo shows the stunning conditions encompassing the town right now. The mountain is 100% open and is expecting more snow within the next week. The holidays should bring in waves of powder that will make Mammoth a winter white wonderland.

To add to the beauty of the season, the Night of Lights Festival begins this Saturday, Dec. 19. Live music, a fireworks show, and a torchlight parade will light up Canyon Lodge starting at 4:30 pm.

DUMP ALERT: 20 inches of fresh snow!

Mammoth Mountain received more than a foot of fresh snow overnight and it’s still snowing! Mammoth Mountain is reporting up to 20” of new snow on Mammoth Mountain, just in time for for the opening of Canyon and Eagle Lodges tomorrow. (December 12, 2015).
More snow is on the way this weekend with up to two feet of snow in the forecast for Sunday. So if you’re planning to Visit Mammoth this weekend, don’t drive home Sunday night. Ditch work on Monday and enjoy a classic powder day.

More snow is coming, more snow is coming YAY! 
El Nino Forecst:
Heavy rain, mountain snow, forecast for Pacific Northwest
A series of storms will impact the Pacific Northwest over the next several days, bringing heavy mountain snowfall and a prolonged rain event across the region. The forecasts are showing strong to very strong incidence for the Dec, Jan and possibly Feb 2016.
What does this all mean?.........This next series of storms beginning Thursday will move further south than the last series and bring several feet of snow to the Mono County Sierra beginning Thursday.
