March 20th was been declared as International Day of Happiness recognizing that happiness is a fundamental human goal, and calls upon countries to approach public policies in ways that improve the wellbeing of all peoples.
Designating a special day for happiness, the UN aims to focus world attention on the idea that economic growth must be inclusive, equitable, and balanced, such that it promotes sustainable development, and alleviates poverty. Additionally the UN acknowledges that in order to attain global happiness, economic development must be accompanied by social and environmental wellbeing.
The initiative to declare a day of happiness came from Bhutan – a country whose citizens are considered to be some of the happiest people in the world. The Himalayan Kingdom has championed an alternative measure of national and societal prosperity, called the Gross National Happiness Index (GNH). The GNH rejects the sole use of economic and material wealth as an indicator of development, and instead adopts a more holistic outlook, where spiritual well being of citizens and communities is given as much importance as their material well being.
With adopting this idea we here also believe being in the outdoors of Mammoth mountains with friends and family enjoying skiing, snowboarding, biking, fishing, hiking or just enjoy the cozy comforts of our condo’s/town homes with all the amenities of home.

Employee: " Good morning this is Lexi , how can I help you?"
Housekeeping: "This is housekeeping. We are at Listing #XXX and the guests have not left, they are nowhere in sight and there are new guests checking in this afternoon!” (sounds a little panicked).
Employee: "OK, I’ll contact the guest immediately and find out what’s going on! ( Employee emails, texts and leaves several voicemail messages.
Several hours pass it is now 5pm the same day.
Guest: "I got a call from your office this morning that was urgent. We were on the mountain and I just got your message. What’s going on?”
Employee: (Finally a very quiet sigh) “Sir do you realize that you were supposed to check out this morning at 10am?”
Guest: "No. We booked the townhouse through Sunday night and are scheduled to leave Monday morning!”
Employee: "Sir, today is Monday afternoon? “
Guest: : “Are you sure today isn't Sunday?”
Employee: “Yes I am. Today is Monday.”
Guest: “ Sh*t , Oh my God!!!! (in disbelief) I am so sorry I thought today was Sunday. Well pack up right now!”
Employee: “ No need, it’s too late in the day and the other guests have already arrived. We have placed them in a different unit. We can take care of the additional changes now if you like for the additional day.”
Guest: ‘ Yes, yes of course. I am so sorry I was sure today was Sunday."
Did this guest and his party of 9 really forgot what day it was? Was this phone conversation a "Truth or BS?"

Annual (April 19-20 – Pond Skim!) & (April 26-27 – Spring Fest!)
Pond Skim: Weekend of April 19-20
Every year around this time we start celebrating the annual Pond Skim event where about 75 skiers and snowboarders attempt to cross a long pool of icy water. Join the crowds as they fill up Canyon Lodge to watch the craziest of our Mammoth guest straight line it on their skis/snowboards across the 110ft pond! This event offers live music throughout the mountain including country rock. It’s a big fun spring party; lastly don’t forget about Earth Day celebrated at Village Mammoth on Saturday with organic foods and activities for everyone.
Spring Fest:Weekend of April 26-27
Although boats are beginning to line up and fishing season begins to take place doesn't mean that Winter has ended on the mountain. Over at Main Lodge with fresh spring snow the half pipes are prepared and the Lift tickets go down to spring value season prices, $64 a day, on April 21. Saturday, April 26 will be a great day to be a spectator on the Main Lodge sundeck with the Volcom Peanut Butter and Rail Jam Championships going down in the morning and the Ski Club Appreciation Day pirate-themed Dummy Downhill in the afternoon. Live music at Main Lodge from 2-5pm Saturday and Sunday.
