How is the Government Shut down affecting Mammoth Lakes
Is Tioga Pass Closed?
No. Yosemite will keep their roads open to through-travelers only. Stopping, hiking or participating in recreational activities is not allowed. Doing so may result in a ticket. All concession facilities and commercial visitor services are completely shut down as well. Day use visitors are being asked to leave the park immediately and visitors who are staying overnight at hotels or campgrounds will be asked to make alternate arrangements.

What will happen to people staying in Yosemite?
Guests currently staying at campgrounds or in hotels have been given 48 hours to depart. They need to contact the company with which they made the reservation to discuss alternate accommodations. Guests with reservations will not be able to access the hotels or campgrounds located within these areas. They need to contact the company with which they made the reservation to discuss alternate accommodations.
We are inviting Yosemiet guests to come to Mammoth Lakes and stay with us. We have abundant sightseeing and recreational opportunities.
Are Devil's Postpile and Rainbow Falls Closed as well?

Yes. Both Devils Postpile and Rainbow Falls are closed. However the road to Reds Meadow and Agnew Meadow remains open for access to Inyo National Forest lands. Hiking to Devils Postpile and Rainbow Falls is also prohibited and doing so may result in a ticket.
When will Yosemite and Devils Postpile open again?
The entire National Park system will reopen as soon as the government is funded.

Is Bodie State Park and Mono Lake Closed?
No. All California State parks remain open, including Bodie State Historic Park (historic gold rush ghost town in arrested decay) http://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=509
Mono Lake Tufa State Natural Reserve http://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=514

What should I tell my guests to do?
Guests are encouraged to still visit the areas and state parks surrounding the National Parks. We have an abundance of scenic beauty and recreational opportunities right here in our backyard. Encourage guests to explore the Lakes Basin (which is still open), view our fall colors, play a round of golf, or go on a bike ride. Are campgrounds closed?
Campgrounds operated by a private concessionaire will remain open on their regular, seasonal schedules. For an up-to-date list of campground availability in and near Mammoth Lakes check out our Campground Report here: http://9nl.me/campground-availability-yose
How do I get a backcountry permit, the Recreation.gov site is down?
We are optimistically hoping this will blow over soon, but even if it doesn't the US Forest lands and wilderness areas will remain open. You can purchase wilderness tickets the day of your trip at the Mammoth Lakes Welcome Center. If the Center is closed, come to the administrative offices next door, and we can help you with your trip directly.

How do I get up-to-date information about the Government Closure and its affect on nearby National Parks?
