Mammoth Bike Park
Over 25 years ago the Kamikaze Downhill Race went down in the history books as the grand daddy-O of all downhill races. Following the Kamikaze, Mammoth went on to bigger and better events hosting many NORBA Mountain Bike Championships throughout the 90’s and will return to its roots this year for the Mammoth Kamikaze Bike Games, September 4-8.

The Mammoth 8/24 Hour Endurance Race course boasts great flow with a true test of endurance and experience and was designed with relatively low climbing due to a base elevation of 8,413’. The course is 95% single track with plenty of room to pass, is 9.45 miles long, with 850’ of elevation gain per lap, and 802’ of loss.

Event Registration
Registration is now open to the first 1500 racers! All racers will receive an official Mammoth 24 poster, t-shirt and goodie bag with entry fee.

Race Day Pick Up | July 27
Stop by the white tent at the start/finish area at the Adventure Center from 8am-10am.

Timing
The Mammoth 24 Mountain Bike Race uses an RFID chip timing system. Specially designed chips will register every category and every lap for a no fuss, smooth race without batons, dismounting or check-ins after laps. Timing chips are located in participant number plates. All plate will be distributed during packet pick up and plates should be displayed on the front of each competitor’s bike.

Lodging available close to action. Check out Mammoth395.com or give us a call at (818)883-2488 and we can help customize your mountain biking experience.

July 4th Weekend activities
The 4th of July weekend and Mother Summer have arrived in earnest, so its time for Skip Harvey Clean Up Day in the Uptown/ Downtown Mtn. Bike Zone and TLC for the Earthquake Fault Picnic Area! Join Brian’s Bikes, Eastside Velo, Base Camp Café, MLTPA, Friends of the Inyo (FOI), the Town of Mammoth Lakes (TOML), and the Inyo National Forest (INF) this Saturday, July 6 at 8:30 AM at the Earthquake Fault for the 2nd event of the 5th season of summer stewardship on the Mammoth Lakes Trail System!
MOUNTAIN BIKING STILL REALLY MATTERS: Meet us at 8:30 a.m. at the Earthquake Fault Trailhead just off of highway 203 for “bagel up” (bagels and cream cheese generously donated by Old New York Deli & Bagel Co.) while we outline the day’s tasks and review safety procedures. Skip Harvey had a special passion for these trails. Volunteers will be gathering debris and detritus on the public section of the Uptown/Downtown Mountain Bike Trails (between the Village and MMSA’s barrier indicating the beginning of the fee-based “Mammoth Mountain Bike Park”), installing temporary Mammoth Lakes Trail System signage to connect cyclists to the Mountain View Trail, and Picassoing picnic table and grilles in the Earthquake Fault Picnic Area! When work is done (roundabout 12:30), we’ll regroup for chilled Root Beer courtesy of Mammoth Brewing Company, free lunch by Bleu Handcrafted Foods provided by Mammoth Lakes Sunrise Rotary, and some terrific giveaways from generous local donors!
GIVEAWAY ALERT: Skip Harvey’s sister Constance and Brian’s Bikes have teamed up for some very “Skip Special Bike Giveaways” – you won’t want to miss these!
All ages and abilities are welcome, and we love to see families and clubs join in the fun. Please arrive dressed for trail work (long sleeves, long pants, sun protection, sturdy close-toed shoes), and don’t worry if you can’t make it quite at 8:30; we can check you in and send you off to a task in progress just about anytime before 10:30 a.m. Visit mltpa.org or friendsoftheinyo.org for more information; call (760) 873-6500 or (760) 934 3154
