Soaking rains to Southern California this Winter?
Offshore 'blob' to possibly account for soaking rains to Southern California this Winter. This phenomenon is drawing intense scrutiny from climate scientists and oceanographers.
Scientists believe that in the 1990s the Pacific Ocean began a cold phase which resulted in a slowdown in global temperatures. The increase in global average temperature is ushering in a period of wetter weather for Southern California.
William Patzert a climatologist for Nasa's Jet Propulsion Lab believes that " I think we may be shifting from a cool, dry phase to a warm, wet phase, which is usually a drought-buster."
Could this mean more snow in our future? More on this mysterious "blob" in the next few days. Stay tuned!

Spring is here so what is there to do in Mammoth?
Spring is officially here! So what do you do in Mammoth in the Spring? Hike the trails and take in all the wild flowers, go fishing and catch a trout that's 6-9 pounds and mountain bike (the trails and clear of snow).
Speaking of fishing I am sure many of you are wondering the status of the lakes due to our drought situation here in CA. Well, I am happy to report that the lakes are all doing well (they are feed by underground streams) with the exception of Horseshoe. So come ride your bike to the lake and catch a yummy trout and enjoy all the amazing wildflowers on your way.
Oh by the way save a bundle on your lodging as we are offering 40% off on nightly rentals rates till Memorial day after which time your can still save 30% till the end of June.

Have you heard about the offshore "blob"?
Have you heard about the offshore "blob"? It's 500-mile-wide, 300-foot-deep wedge of warm water seawater that may in fact signal an epic cyclical change in the Pacific Ocean resulting in a possible soaking rains to Southern California this Winter and we know what that means to the Sierras. Stay tuned as we delve more into the natural phenomenon. Could this signal a big Winter next season?
