Outgoing call:

Millie: "Hello this is Millie with Mammoth Rental By Owner. May I speak with Bob (alias)?

Guest: "This is Bob. "

Millie: "Bob it has come to our attention that you have two rabbits in the condo and you did not register the rabbits (pets) when you booked your rental. Additionally, this unit is not pet friendly.”

Guest: "Well, my rabbits are part of the family and we don’t consider them as pets and besides how did you find out about the rabbits. We came to the condo late last night? "

Millie:" Our emergency crew was at an adjacent unit when they saw you bringing the cages with the rabbits into the unit. They alerted us as they know that units in the complex are not per friendly."

Guest: “Well, as I explained our rabbits are part of the family so they are not pets."

Millie: "Unfortunately Sir, as I explained the condos in this complex are not per friendly and this is clearly stated on the website, check-in instructions and the rental contract which you agreed to. "

Guest: "But, I don’t understand I told you my rabbits are not pets they are family!"

Millie: "Sir, I understand that you do not feel your rabbits are pets that they are family. However, in the rental business the following definition would constitute a pet. If the animal has any one or a combination of the following: fur, feathers, 4 legs, beak, claws, scales and does not speak a recognizable language is considered a pet. If the animal is considered a pet there needs to be a pet fee that is paid along with renting a unit that is pet friendly. Many times the owners of a rental property may have allergies and therefor do not want pets in their unit. We have several property owners whose allergies are so severe they if they exposed to pet dander they will become severely it. On the other hand many of the complexes in Mammoth the HOA does not allow renters to bring pets and should they find out there are pets the owners will be Fined. I am sure you can appreciate the dilemma that bringing a pet into a non-pet friendly unit may caused. I am sure this was unintentional on your part however we need to rectify the situation.”

Guest: " OK, I get it. "

Millie: "Sir, let’s get you into a pet friendly unit so you can enjoy your time in Mammoth along with your rabbits."

Guest: "Fine."

Millie: "Do you have your computer with you?"

Guest: "Yes”

Millie: "Please pull up the website and I can help you locate a unit that will be just right for you"

Guest: "OK"

Millie: " How does Listing # XXX look to you?

Guest: "It looks fine, do I have to pay again?

Millie: “This unit is the same price as the one you rented, it’s pet friendly and is just down the street from where you are. If you are alright with this unit I will have housekeeping come by to help relocated you to the new unit”.

Guest: “Thank you. I’m sorry I didn’t realize.”

Millie: “ No worries. We just want to make sure you are having a good trip.”

Did this Guest really think his rabbits were not pets?
