Sierra Star Golf Course has partnered up with the PGA to offer the Get Golf Ready Program. Everything the juniors will need to learn and know within five sessions. The professionals will be there to teach and show techniques. Each class or session will focus on different skills you will need to know when out playing. This is definitely something that can be fun for kids of all ages to do in Mammoth. Learn how to play like the pros and have fun with friends and family! They hover around gently but they can travel distances over 3000 miles. Each year over a million Monarch butterflies have massive migration through California and many other parts of the world. Monarchs butterflies are actively fluttering about around this being its mating season. Migrating of Monarchs begins along the coast in October and by November most Monarchs have found their winter homes. The Female Butterflies disperse flying inland, looking for early sprouts of milkweed to lay their eggs. By winter they abandon these areas. On the cold days, if it's 57 degrees or below or cloudy days, the clusters of butterflies will not break up.

Hiking out in Inyo National Forest and the Eastern Sierras is so much fun. You realize how vast nature really is. Here are a few reminders of things to do or bring when headed for a hike. To be safe when hiking, just remember the word Hike. Have a plan, Inform someone where your headed and when you plan on coming back and try to stay on an established trail. Keep a good flashlight and a whistle with you. Eat sufficiently and carry a good amount of water with you, (Carry and drink plenty of water (minimum of 1 quart every 2 hours). When hiking in a group, each member of the group should carry some water and food in case the party becomes separated. Minor and or moderate health/medical issues can be easily increased by hiking up the steep Valley trails, be cautious of your condition. And always wear a good pair of hiking shoes with solid support. Pack in what you brought and pack it in when leave, leave no trash behind. Lastly enjoy the open doors!
