What's Mammoth like in the summer
Wow what a great season! I just love this mountain. Going one last time to board next week. I've never been to Mammoth in the summer. I keep hearing there's a bunch of stuff to do. What's Mammoth like in the summer?

Administrator (Greg)
Mammoth and fireworks. Ever think of going to the mountains for the 4th of July? It's the place to be. Watching the fireworks amoungest the grandure of the Eastern Sierra's is spectular to say the least. If you want to feel patriotic and a part of the big picture come to Mammoth for the 4th of July, experience the sights, sounds and beauty that only Mammoth can offer for this holiday.

Good morning,

Tioga Road - State Highway 120 will open for the season on Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. for all vehicle traffic. No commercial services are available along the road; however, there will be gasoline available 24 hours per day (credit cards only). Additionally, the Tuolumne Meadows Campground, other campgrounds along the corridor, and the Tuolumne Visitor Center will remain closed. All visitor services, including the campgrounds, store, gas station, etc. will open over the next several weeks.

Visitors who are planning to visit Yosemite National Park over the upcoming Memorial Day weekend are urged to take extra safety precautions, especially along the Merced River . With the current warm weather and accelerated snowmelt, the river is running fast and water temperatures are very cold.

The park is expecting a very busy weekend. Visitors to Yosemite Valley are urged to take the free Yosemite Shuttle Bus to help with traffic congestion over the weekend. Visitors should remember that the busiest part of the day to enter the park is during the lunchtime hours. Short delays at entrance stations and heavy traffic within the Valley should be expected.

Please call the Mammoth Lakes Welcome Center for additional information at (760) 924-5500.

Kind regards,

Stu

It's about a 45minute drive to the east entrance of Yosemite.

Barbara
How far is Yosemite from Mammoth?

Barbara

Greg
I work at the mountain and the lifts are open from 7:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.There is a base of 3-6 feet of groomed snow.

The 3-6 feet of snow is enough snow at the summit to almost cover the 20-foot tall sign in May.As far as I know Mammoth will be open for skiing and snowboarding till June 14th maybe a little longer is what I hear.

Greg

Diane
Whats the weather like in Mammoth now in late May. Skiing?

Kevin
I'm going to Mammoth for the first time in the summer. Want to go hiking, any good suggestions on some easy hikes?

Don
Mammoth is great in the summer. Our family loves the mountain biking. My son and I take the gondola all the way to the top of Mammoth Mountain and ride down to the village. What a thrill!!!!!!. My wife and daughter pickup the trail at the main lodge and ride the single track also to the village and we meet up and have a great meal in town. Try it you'll be hooked.
